Special effects and shows for weddings
Cold spark, pyrotechnics, rose petals and drone shows for the ceremony, the grand entrance and the close of the night. Monterrey and the coast.
Short answer
We produce the special effects for your wedding and spread them across the moments that matter: petals and cold spark for the ceremony and the entrance, confetti and laser on the dance floor, and pyrotechnics or a drone show for the close. Cold spark works inside a venue because it does not burn or set off detectors; anything with gunpowder always goes outdoors. We take weddings from our own bases in Monterrey, Los Cabos and Cancún, and we handle the permits.

Which effects go where in a wedding
A wedding is not solved with one effect, it is spread across five moments. This is the script we build with most couples, and the reasoning behind each placement:
The ceremony. Quiet and close is what works here: rose petal cannons at the moment of the vows, and coloured smoke if the photo session runs with a low sun. Petals are the effect that reads best on slow-motion video.
The grand entrance. This is cold spark territory. Two fountains either side of the doorway, fired as the couple walks in. It is a low-temperature effect, so it can sit a few metres from guests and it works under a tent, a palapa or a closed venue.
The first dance. Cold spark again, lower and shorter, or laser over light haze to give the dance floor volume with no noise and no residue. If there is a spark waterfall hung from a structure, this is its moment.
The cake and the toast. Cold spark once more, and smoke bubbles if there are children at the wedding: that is the effect that wins them over.
The close. The big show. Aerial pyrotechnics computer-fired from a cordoned zone, a pyro sign with the couple’s initials written in fire, an aisle of handheld sparklers for the exit, or a drone show. Whatever the space and the budget allow.
On top of that, depending on the wedding, come confetti cannons for the dance floor and flames, the effect people feel in their body, and also the one that demands the most safety distance.
Which effects can be used inside the venue?
This is the question we are asked most, and the answer is a single rule: anything with gunpowder goes outdoors, always. No aerial pyrotechnics under a palapa, a tent or a ballroom ceiling.
What does work indoors:
- Cold spark. Low-temperature spark fountains. It does not burn on contact and does not set off smoke detectors or sprinklers, which is what the venue worries about. That is the whole reason this effect exists.
- Confetti and petal cannons. Fired by compressed air, no gunpowder. The only thing to agree with the venue is who cleans up.
- Smoke bubbles. Bubbles that release a wisp of smoke when they pop.
- Laser. Over haze the beams give the room volume. No heat, no residue.
What cannot go under a roof: aerial pyrotechnics, pyro signs, flames and drone shows. A swarm needs open sky and a minimum distance of 50 metres from the audience, so it does not fly indoors.
If you want the technical detail on why cold spark is safe inside, we explain it in indoor pyrotechnics with cold spark.
With your date and venue that range becomes a figure. Ask us for the one for your case.
A drone show at a wedding: what can be drawn
It is the moment nobody expects at a wedding, which is exactly why it works. A swarm of more than 500 drones flies as a single piece and draws whatever it is programmed to draw: the couple’s initials, the date, a ring closing, a heart or a countdown to the kiss. The show runs up to 8 minutes and reaches 160 metres, so it is visible from the whole garden and from outside the venue.
It has two advantages pyrotechnics does not. The first is that it is silent, which settles the usual conflict with neighbours and with the night-time noise limits many haciendas and clubs have. The second is that it can be personalised with text: no other effect writes a name in the sky.
The rule that governs the setup is the minimum 50-metre distance between the take-off point and the guests, plus an area clear of trees and cables. In a large garden that is no problem; in an enclosed courtyard the point has to be found or the effect changed, and we say so before quoting, not on the day.
And if you want both, you can: we produce drones with integrated pyrotechnics, so the figure in the sky ends up throwing sparks. They are built by Skylab Entertainment, our drone company, which holds second place worldwide in drone design.
On price, the figure you can start planning with is around 2,000 pesos per drone on average, moving with the season, the size of the swarm, the venue and the weather. The full breakdown is in how much a drone show costs in Mexico.
Permits and what the venue asks for
Guests never see this part, and it is the part that decides whether the show happens. We take it on, not you and not your wedding planner.
SEDENA for all pyrotechnic material, plus the municipal authorisations, which change from one municipality to the next. Civil Protection sets the real calendar: it requires 15 business days of notice, so a wedding settled two weeks out can no longer have aerial pyrotechnics, though it can still have cold spark and gunpowder-free effects. For a drone show, AFAC airspace clearance is added.
Beyond the authorities there is the venue, and it is usually stricter. A hacienda with tile roofs and wooden beams, a garden with mature trees or a club with neighbours 40 metres away each have their own distance and curfew rules. We sit down with the venue manager before signing the script, because what defines the show is not the budget, it is what the venue allows.
We work with current public liability insurance, formal invoicing and staff registered with the IMSS. If your venue asks for documentation, it exists.
Where we produce weddings
Let us be straight about this, because it saves you time: we are not a volume wedding supplier. We have produced shows since 1993 and most of our work is stadiums, festivals and corporate events. We take weddings in the markets where we have our own base and can stand behind the whole setup.
Those markets are Monterrey, where the base is, and the coast: Los Cabos and Cancún. There the equipment, the crew and the permits are ours, and nothing is subcontracted to a local supplier.
Outside those three it is reviewed project by project. We travel with our own equipment and crew, so the show is the same; what changes is travel costs and the setup window, and that has to make sense for both sides. Ask us with your date and venue and we will tell you straight whether it fits.
If your wedding is on the beach, that has its own page, because the sand, the tide, the wind and the federal-zone permit change the design completely: beach weddings and events.
What we need to quote your wedding
Five pieces of information and we build the proposal. We rarely take more than 24 hours:
- The date.
- The venue: name of the hall, hacienda, garden or club, and the city.
- The guest count.
- Whether the moment is indoors or outdoors.
- Which moment you want it for: ceremony, entrance, first dance, cake, close or several.
With that we define which technology fits, which permits have to move and what it costs. If you do not know yet what you want, the date and the venue are enough to start: we build the proposal.
Frequently asked
Can you stage pyrotechnics at a wedding in a garden or hacienda?
Yes, outdoors and with distances calculated against tile roofs, tents and trees. It needs a SEDENA permit and notice to Civil Protection 15 business days ahead. If the venue cannot give the distance or has a noise restriction, we design with cold spark, confetti and laser, or with a drone show, which is silent.
Which effects can be used inside the venue?
Cold spark, confetti and petal cannons, smoke bubbles and laser. They are low-temperature or compressed-air effects: they do not burn on contact and do not trigger smoke detectors or sprinklers. Gunpowder pyrotechnics, flames and drones always go outdoors.
How much does a drone show for a wedding cost?
The figure you can start planning with is around 2,000 pesos per drone on average. It moves with the season, the size of the swarm, the venue, equipment access and the weather that day. For a real price we need the date, the venue and the guest count.
How far in advance should wedding effects be booked?
For pyrotechnics, at least three weeks: Civil Protection requires 15 business days and permits cannot be rushed. Effects without gunpowder, such as cold spark, confetti and petals, can be set up with far less notice. If your date is close, ask us: there is almost always a version that fits.
Do you produce weddings outside Monterrey?
We take weddings in the markets where we have our own base: Monterrey, Los Cabos and Cancún. Outside those three it is reviewed project by project, because we travel with our own equipment and crew and the travel cost has to make sense for both sides. Write to us with the date and the venue and we will tell you straight.
